== What Are Crypto Futures Expiration Dates? == Crypto futures expiration dates are the predetermined dates when a futures contract settles. On this date, the contract is closed, and the final settlement price is determined. There are two types of settlements: * **Cash Settlement**: The contract is settled in cash based on the difference between the contract price and the market price at expiration. * **Physical Settlement**: The underlying asset (cryptocurrency) is delivered to the buyer. Most crypto futures contracts are cash-settled, meaning no actual cryptocurrency changes hands. Instead, profits or losses are calculated and credited or debited to the trader's account.
